Carroll’s passion for photography sparked during the summer of 1969 while in Provincetown, Mass for summer work. Once returning to the University of Georgia, he started working for a local photographer and his passion grew. After studying under other photographers for several years, Carroll decided to open Gambrell Photography in March of 1976. Carroll’s love for his work has developed into a thriving family business where now he works alongside his wife Tommie, son Allen and daughter Anna. He also has a love for technology, especially computers. Carroll spends his free time building computers and learning about the newest technology.
In January of 1977, Tommie’s journey into photography began when she married the love of her life, Carroll. Within two years of their marriage, she decided to make a career change and went to work full-time at our studio. Tommie has a passion for working with people and enjoying making our customer's visions come to life. She is always looking for the newest background ideas and props to make our photography more unique. Tommie loves that while working she is always with her family.
After graduating from the University of Georgia, Allen returned to Swainsboro to join his parents in the business. He has spent years learning and crafting his skills as a photographer. Allen has received numerous awards for his senior photography. He is a master is photographic lighting and enjoys using various styles of lighting during his sessions to truly make his images unique. If a computer problem arises, Allen can solve it. With a degree in Management Information Systems, Allen is a computer wiz and builds custom software to make our studio more efficient. Saturday in the fall Allen enjoys shooting action for Georgia Southern University Football.
Anna is also a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. After severing southeast Georgia as a yearbook sales representative for seven years, she decided to return to her family business because it is where her heart lies and her passion can thrive. She manages marketing and social media for our studio, as well as working as our graphic artist and assistant photographer. Anna truly enjoys being creative and shows this passion by working with our clients on expressing their personality in their photo shoots, creating custom galleries for them, and much more.
She loves the Georgia Bulldogs, shooting sports action alongside her brother and father, and spending time with her puppy Piper.
